Great food, fellowship and fun was enjoyed by all at the 2015 New Walk Team Kickoff party! New Walk Team captains were invited to join the Walk Committee members at River Rat Brewery on August 18, 2015. The weather cooperated by being warm, but not too hot as we mingled underneath the overhead fans and enjoyed local craft beers, wine, and delicious pulled pork barbeque.
Alexis Watts and Elizabeth Brantley from the Alzheimer’s Association spoke about the mission and gave updates on upcoming opportunities to get involved including the upcoming Alzheimer’s Symposium. Nate Rhodes, this year’s Walk Event Chair, also spoke reminding us of some of the sobering statistics about this terrible disease and motivating us all to raise money to end Alzheimer’s. Barbara Brunson, who organized this event as part of her role as the Team Recruitment Chair, also gave us tips and ideas on how to raise money based on her success last year.
